SecondLife Virtual Genealogical Society February Meeting

We’ve got an excellent program for our February meeting on Sunday, February 10 at 5:30 pm SL (Pacific).  Craig Scott, CG, will be answering questions and helping solve your brick wall problems. Not only is Craig a genealogy expert, particularly in the are of military research, he is also one of the founders of the Just Genealogy area in SecondLife.  Here’s more about Craig:

Craig R. Scott, CG, FUGA is President and CEO of Heritage Books, Inc., a genealogical publishing firm with over 6.300 titles in print. A researcher for more than thirty years, he specializes in the records of the National Archives, problem solving, genealogical skill building and publishing. He has been lecturing steadily since the 1990 National Genealogical Society Conference in Crystal City at local, state, and national levels. He has coordinated lecture tracks at IGHR, SLIG and GRIP. He was awarded the Grahame T. Smallwood, Jr. Award by APG in 2008 and the UGA Silver Tray Award in 2009. A nationally known lecturer and educator he has appeared in the Ancestry Show and the Neil Leherer News Hour. He brings enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge to each engagement.

But first!!

But before next Sunday’s meeting, we’re starting what will hopefully continue a couple times a month — for now the first and third Monday — a very informal get together at the Just Genealogy Fire Pit, to answer questions about SecondLife and help new folks get more comfortable in the virtual world.  We’ve all been newbies at one time!  Everyone is welcome to attend and we’ll try to cover some of the basics as needed, depending on the needs and questions of the attendees.  Sign up for a free account, sign in and head on over to the Just Genealogy Fire Pit. You can teleport there by either using the Search option, or use this link – http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Wollah/48/82/68
