At our July 2025 meeting, we explored how uncovering family history can affect our emotional and physical well-being. The discussion made it clear that genealogists need a safe and supportive space to discuss all aspects of family history—both the discoveries that inspire us and the ones that challenge us.
To meet that need, the Second Life Virtual Genealogical Society (SLVGS) will now hold open group discussions every other month.
Our October meeting will be one of these open sessions: an opportunity to share, listen, and learn together. Bring whatever genealogy-related topics are on your mind, such as:
- Unexpected genetic health results
- NPE discoveries or adoption stories
- Grief and loss in family research
- Cognitive issues or memory care
- How to share sensitive findings with family members or clients
- Or even that stubborn brick wall that’s been holding up your research!
Our members come from diverse backgrounds and experience levels, from curious beginners to seasoned professionals. Whether you want to talk through a tough discovery or get fresh ideas for your research, you’ll find a welcoming community ready to help!
WHEN: Sunday, 12 October 2025
TIME: 4:30 p.m. SLT (same as Pacific Time)
WHERE: The Barn SLurl
A brief business meeting will be held before the speaker’s presentation.
Genealogists of all levels are welcome at our meetings. You do not need to be a member of the SLVGS to attend, but we’d love it if you’d join!
